The Republic of Angola marks the fiftieth anniversary of its accession to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which took place on October 13, 1976, celebrating five decades of cooperation.
Along this path, Angola has made significant progress in the modernisation and expansion of telecommunications infrastructures, with emphasis on the development of national and international fibre optic networks, the expansion of mobile communications and the strengthening of connectivity. Also noteworthy is the National Space Program, in which the ANGOSAT-2 satellite stands out, as a contribution to the digital transformation and inclusion of populations.
Cooperation with the ITU has been a relevant instrument for the training and capacity building of national staff, promoting the development of technical and institutional skills essential to the sustainable modernization of the sector. This collaboration has also favored the sharing of knowledge, the harmonization of policies and the participation of Angola in the main international forums.
As part of this anniversary, Angola notes with appreciation the congratulatory message of the Deputy Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union and reaffirms its commitment to strengthening this strategic partnership, in favor of an increasingly inclusive, resilient and sustainable digital ecosystem, for the benefit of the country's economic and social development.
