The Gulf Cooperation Council and the United Kingdom announced the conclusion of negotiations on a proposed free-trade agreement. The development marks the end of a negotiating stage in the relationship between the GCC states, including Qatar, and the UK.

A conclusion of negotiations should not be confused with the entry into force of an agreement. Further steps may include legal review, formal signature, ratification or domestic implementation, depending on the applicable procedures. The diplomatic importance of the announcement is therefore its indication of progress toward a trade framework, while the timetable and practical effects depend on the subsequent official record.
