Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi spoke with Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó by telephone on 28 February 2026. Qatar's Foreign Ministry said the call addressed regional escalation and options for ending disputes peacefully.
Al Muraikhi described Iranian missile attacks on Qatari territory as a violation of sovereignty and called for an end to escalation. Szijjártó condemned the reported attacks and referred to Qatar's sovereignty and international law. The statement does not announce a new Qatar–Hungary treaty.
