Qatar and Kenya announced their intention to hold annual consultations and accelerate review of their 2012 labour agreement. Trade, labour, agriculture, aviation and investment were among the areas described as priorities for cooperation.
The proposal for regular consultations can improve continuity between official visits, but a review of an existing labour agreement should not be reported as an amendment already adopted. Changes to recruitment arrangements or labour protections require their own formal documentation. The announcement provides a starting point for monitoring whether the planned consultations and sector-specific follow-up take place.
