Qatar welcomed the release of 15 detained people by authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and their transfer to the Congo River Alliance/M23 movement on 6–7 August 2026. The ministry described the release as part of a mechanism agreed in Doha and a step toward confidence-building between the parties. It commended the ICRC's humanitarian role and reiterated Qatar's support for continued peace negotiations in eastern Congo. The report does not claim that the broader conflict was resolved.
