Qatar welcomed a United Nations Security Council members' statement of 7 August 2026 condemning reported Houthi missile attacks against Saudi Arabia and attacks on commercial vessels. Qatar's response was issued on 8 August.
Its Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of international law, maritime navigation rights and relevant Council resolutions, including Resolution 2216. It reaffirmed solidarity with Saudi Arabia and stressed regional security concerns. The Qatari statement welcomed the Council members' position; it did not itself constitute a new Security Council resolution.
