Uruguayan President Yamandu Orsi met Qatar's Minister of State at the Foreign Ministry, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, in Montevideo on 1 October 2026. Al Khulaifi conveyed greetings from Qatar's Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani; the president asked him to convey reciprocal greetings, according to Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting examined relations between Qatar and Uruguay and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, along with issues of mutual interest. The official account of the presidential meeting reported no newly signed agreement.
